A fitting thought to begin a new year, I do think. Because all it takes is a glance to see brokenness in the world. That brokenness results in lots of messy complicated things that may get left behind, or may carry over into coming years. There’s a fair amount of ugly, and some bruises, scrapes, and scars.
But, despite all of that, there is nothing wrong (and everything right) with looking to the future with expectations for loveliness. That messy stuff will come along too, but it doesn’t need to win out over thoughts of the good.
Right now is a perfect time for hope.
